Vintage Store Designn Rare Meissen Indisch Grün Teacup Set
We saved the best for the last in this case – literally! This beautiful Vintage Store Designn Rare Meissen Indisch Grün Teacup Set dates back to the 1930s and is in excellent condition, as it was never used. The Meissen-stamped teacup and saucer set features two crossed blue swords from the Electoral Saxon arms, thus identifying this as authentic Meissen porcelain.
While they draw inspiration from patterns first produced by Chinese porcelain painters, they were handcrafted in a 1740s Meissen factory with a distinct design. These designs are hybrids resembling florae more familiar to Europeans than the Ming dynasty, where the design is originally from. How To Choose The Best Vintage Tea Sets Online?
One of the first things we checked when it came to vintage tea sets was the absence of cracks and chips. Generally, gold-rimmed saucers, handles, or cups with slight wear mean that the china was well-loved! Hence, small design flaws are perfectly okay, too, like very small or just-forming cracks. To check for any cracks, we’d gently run our fingers along the rims of the saucers, handles, and cups, as well as outside the saucers and the cups.
Usually, matching teacups and saucers are more valuable. Also, matching teacups and saucers is more than just looking at the designs and colors. Since there are so many orphaned teacups and saucers out there, similar colors and designs might repeat. One way to match them is by checking the stamp on the teacup’s bottom and ensuring that it matches the stamp on the saucer’s bottom.
Sometimes, vintage tea sets that caught our eye because of their style would have issues that needed repairing. Sometimes the handles were glued on, which meant that it had been repaired and was once broken. So, there’s a chance that it might break again, and hence, it’s better to stay away from it. That’s because repairs would decrease the teacup’s value too.
Which tea cups are worth the money?
As a thumb rule, the older the tea sets and teacups, the greater their value.
Why are Royal Albert tea sets so expensive?
Every Royal Albert tea set piece goes through outstanding production of raw materials and techniques, making it invaluable teaware.
Are antique teapots safe to use?
Yes, if the silver coating is intact. Avoid it if the metal has been worn down to the base metal.
