Table Scraps Vintage Denmark Blue Tea Cups

6

We fell in love with the Table Scraps Vintage Denmark Blue Tea Cups the minute we set our eyes on them. These vintage tea sets date back to 19th-century England and feature Danish-inspired patterns of geometric designs and strawflowers around small blue flowers. Finishing the beautiful design are scales on the white ground, and the entire pattern is based on the original Royal Copenhagen pattern. In fact, between 1850 and 1968, Furnivals was this pattern’s most popular British producer! While there’s some discoloration and a few minor chips, the cups and saucers are in good vintage condition. If that wasn’t enough, the cups are even uniquely marked with the pattern on the inside, while the saucers say “Denmark Furnivals Unlimited Trademark England Made in England.” Finally, both the saucers and the cups feature a Viking logo or boat mark.

Pros

  • These cups and saucers are smooth on the outside.
  • They’re very affordable.
  • They’re the perfect addition to a collection of white and blue dinnerware.

Cons

  • They’re just a set of two and not more.

Vintage Store Designn Rare Meissen Indisch Grün Teacup Set

1

We saved the best for the last in this case – literally! This beautiful Vintage Store Designn Rare Meissen Indisch Grün Teacup Set dates back to the 1930s and is in excellent condition, as it was never used. The Meissen-stamped teacup and saucer set features two crossed blue swords from the Electoral Saxon arms, thus identifying this as authentic Meissen porcelain.

While they draw inspiration from patterns first produced by Chinese porcelain painters, they were handcrafted in a 1740s Meissen factory with a distinct design. These designs are hybrids resembling florae more familiar to Europeans than the Ming dynasty, where the design is originally from. We absolutely loved the ingenious design of grouped floral motifs with the central stylized asters and peonies with curving and flowing stems. And since it’s never been used, it’s one of the most pristine Etsy vintage tea cups we’ve ever seen!

Pros

  • The design is one of a kind.
  • The teacups and saucers are vintage, dating back to the 1930s.
  • It comes as a set.

Cons

  • None.

How To Choose The Best Vintage Tea Sets Online?

Cracks/chips

One of the first things we checked when it came to vintage tea sets was the absence of cracks and chips. Generally, gold-rimmed saucers, handles, or cups with slight wear mean that the china was well-loved! Hence, small design flaws are perfectly okay, too, like very small or just-forming cracks. To check for any cracks, we’d gently run our fingers along the rims of the saucers, handles, and cups, as well as outside the saucers and the cups.

Matching sets

Usually, matching teacups and saucers are more valuable. Also, matching teacups and saucers is more than just looking at the designs and colors. Since there are so many orphaned teacups and saucers out there, similar colors and designs might repeat. One way to match them is by checking the stamp on the teacup’s bottom and ensuring that it matches the stamp on the saucer’s bottom.

No Repairs

Sometimes, vintage tea sets that caught our eye because of their style would have issues that needed repairing. Sometimes the handles were glued on, which meant that it had been repaired and was once broken. So, there’s a chance that it might break again, and hence, it’s better to stay away from it. That’s because repairs would decrease the teacup’s value too.
