Threshold Microplush Bed Blanket

1

Best overall. Sitting at the top of the list is the gorgeous Threshold Microplush Bed Blanket, which is perfect for those chilly winter nights. This go-to blanket of ours was not only highly affordable at USD 30 but also warmed us quickly while being incredibly soft to the touch. Even when we tossed and turned at night, we could tuck this blanket under our mattress and still have enough material left over to cover ourselves up with. Even after multiple washes, the texture and quality have remained the same, and we haven’t noticed any signs of rips, stains, or fading even after six months. Since it did produce a fair bit of line, we highly suggest washing and drying it by itself, instead of with other clothes. Our Verdict!

While we loved all the options for blankets on this list, here are our specialized favorites:

How To Choose The Best Blankets At Target?

Material

One of the foremost deciding factors for us when choosing blankets is the kind of material. From polyester and cotton to wool and linen, blankets are designed from all types of materials. Additionally, the kind of material also determines how long and durable the blanket will be. For instance, woolen blankets might last long, but they’re warm and not so soft. On the other hand, cotton is great for durability, but not as warm as wool. Meanwhile, alpaca is a very strong fiber whose softness depends on thickness and quality. Finally, synthetic materials like fleece and polyester are affordable and long-lasting, but might not be sustainable in the long run.

Weight

Next up is the weight of the blanket. A blanket’s weight is mostly a function of the kind of knit or weave that it’s been designed in. So, one can blankets made from the same material but with varying weights — it all boils down to the build of the blanket. One thing to keep in mind is that those who sleep hot should choose blankets with lighter and looser weaves as they’re more breathable. That’s because blankets with denser weaves tend to trap heat.

Size

One of the most important factors to take into consideration for choosing blankets is the size of one’s bed or one’s own frame. Since most blankets come in traditional bed sizes like king, queen, double, twin, etc., it’s a good idea to compare your mattress’ exact measurements to that of the blanket options. That’s because you need to ensure that whichever size you choose can comfortably cover your frame and your mattress, and also drape a bit over the sides. If you’re looking for something travel-worthy, then smaller throws are perfect.

Care

Finally, you need to take care of your blanket properly so it lasts a long time. One sureshot recommendation is referring to the manufacturer’s instructions so the blanket won’t be damaged. While most blankets can be machine-washed and tumble-dried, some need to be line-dried, some need gentler cycles, and yet there are some that can’t be bleached.

How often should you wash a blanket?

That depends on how and how often you use the blanket. For instance, blankets that don’t directly touch your body can be washed once a month.

What are the warmest blankets?

Wool of all kinds is the warmest material.

What type of blanket is best for all seasons?

Do you use a blanket throughout the year? Then it’s best that you invest in a medium-weight cotton blanket.
